Reseña del titulado

I’ve lived in Sydney since August 2018. I moved here after my in-house application to a position in Australia was accepted. I had always kept the option open of studying or working abroad, and what’s good about my organization is that there are always job openings in other countries that staff members can apply for. And so when a post became available in Sydney that was quite similar to my Pricing work in Chile, I didn’t hesitate to accept the challenge and apply. Since arriving in Australia I’ve worked as a Commercial Engineer (better known here as a Business Administrator). My current job title is Sales Steering Coordinator, responsible for Pricing and Allocation Management in Hapag-Lloyd Shipping Line, formerly Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores which later merged with Hapag-Lloyd.

I look back on my undergraduate years as a great experience, without any doubt some of the best years of my life. I learned a lot in terms of academics and the values of higher education and of course, I met many good and wonderful friends. What stands out for me about the study program is that while Santa María is more technically focused, it nevertheless places an emphasis on the social sciences at the same time, which makes you a more integrated professional. You can pursue further professional development anywhere in the world, and as a Sansano you’ll be equipped with the right tools to do so. The training we receive is as good as or better than that of graduates from other countries, but we do have to put in extra effort, and it took me awhile before I finally was able to do this, thanks to making the effort and persevering. My message to students would be, if you have the chance to travel, work or do an internship abroad, do it, because these are life experiences that enrich you, not just in terms of your career but as a person as well. You need to be sure of yourself, proud of what you are and of your education.
